What is an Inflatable Banana Chair or Lounger
Inflatable banana chairs, commonly known as inflatable loungers are like huge bags made of parachute fabric.
They have a large opening in one end, to inflate them you hold the entire bag up and spin around letting it fill with air.
You then close the open end by folding it as you would with a dry bag.

Frequently Asked Questions About Inflatable Banana Chairs
How to inflate an inflatable lounger or inflatable banana chair?
Most inflatable loungers are made to inflate using only movement and the wind or air. You shouldn’t need to use any kind of air pump.
There are a few methods but remember that no one can inflate inflatable loungers or banana chairs in one swoop unless there’s a lot of wind.
To inflate you open the bag and swoop it through the air in one large movement.
The trick is closing the bag the second you stop moving to trap the air inside. Only open the inflatable lounger when you start swooping and filling it with air again.
Depending on your experience level this can take anywhere from 4 to even 20 swoops.
You will get better over time, just keep swooping and make sure the bag is closed to not lose air when you aren’t swooping it.
Once the inflatable lounger/ banana chair is 70-80% filled with air push the opening straps together and start folding them into the bag.
As you fold the entire thing will become more taught and filled with air. Make sure you have enough material for 3-4 folds before you buckle the ends together.

How do you reinflate an inflatable lounger or inflatable banana chair without opening it again?
Every inflatable couch, lounger, banana chair, or hammock loses air over time, it’s just what they do.
The good news is you don’t have to start from step one and swoop it around again.
Just open the buckle, fold the bag a few more times and you will have a perfectly inflated lounger just like that.
Granted it will be a little shorter, but less work was involved and that makes more time for lounging.
Can inflatable loungers be used on the water?
Yes, they can!
The beauty of inflatable loungers and inflatable banana chairs is their versatility.
You can use them on the beach and in the water.
Can inflatable loungers pop?
While inflatable loungers are very durable and can take anywhere from 400-500 lbs they do have their limits.
The ripstop fabric can take rocks and rough ground but a very sharp stick or rock combined with heavyweight may push it over the limit.
Make sure you check the ground you set it one for anything that might be a little too sharp.
As far as being too heavy or getting on and off it some brands may have a low-quality buckle.
I’ve seen a few buckles break and the inflatable lounger unravel and release air from a heavy person jumping on them.
Most high-quality inflatable loungers will have heavy-duty buckles.
If you shop right, this won’t be a problem.
Are inflatable loungers washable?
Most inflatable loungers have a removable inner plastic bag that keeps them airtight.
To wash the outer polyester shell remove the plastic bag carefully and wash according to the manufacturer’s instructions (normally cold and air dry only).
If you cannot remove the inner plastic bag you may still be able to carefully hand or spot wash the outer shell.
Just be careful to not compromise the inner liner.
